A warm welcome to you from the members of Hunting Ridge Presbyterian Church! In a time when our safety asks us not to congregate, we are finding new ways to be in communion with one another. This devotional is one such effort, allowing us to focus our hearts in a common direction, to continue to grow and nurture one another in our journey of faith. It’s designed for disciples of all ages. We welcome you to join us.
Do you have a special place? A place in your home where you pray or that feels sacred to you? If not, take a minute to make one. It doesn’t have to be fancy. You can simply light a candle or maybe drape a piece of fabric on your table.
Once you have your space set up, take three deep breaths.
Take a moment to read Psalm 23:
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,[d]
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely[e] goodness and mercy[f] shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long.[g]
Scripture– Ephesians 5: 8-10
8 For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light— 9 for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true. 10 Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord.
- What are some things that you do really well?
- How can you use those things to help other people?
- What are you committed to doing to help those close to you this week?
We encourage you to get up, and dance around your house while you listen. No one is watching but our God. Move your body in a way that brings joy and light to you and the Lord.
We invite you to print the following image to color while you meditate on your light.
